Heart of Scrap, a tactical turn-based strategy game, was the first title I worked on. Set on a foreign planet, epic fighters controlling modular ships made out of scrap from old battlefields, face each other for combat it gigantic arenas. My task was to design characters, environments and battleships as well as creating several artworks to illustrate
At Chasing Carrots I had the pleasure to help create Good Company, a robotic business simulation set in the colorful 70s and 80s, kind of like your own technology start-up Steve Jobs story. As the only concept artist and illustrator on the team it was my responsibility to create visuals and form a cohesive look for the game. We wanted a rather simple and fun look, inspired by 70s retro-futurism and 80s technology.
Researching and creating a style sheet describing the basic visual language of the game, painting the cover art, designing characters, assets and environments was my main contribution to the game. I was in constant dialogue with my co-workers to ensure I depicted the vision of the team. Inventory icons, promotional artworks and campaign characters like the tech-loving grandma were part of it as well. The game itself is going to be 3D, so except for any promotional material and part of the icons my 2D work lies behind the final visuals of the game. But everything you see on this page is 2D.
